About the Speaker: Charles Strain, Ph.D., Professor, Religious Studies, Peace, Justice and Conflict Studies, DePaul University

Dr. Charles Strain, Professor, Religious Studies, Peace, Justice and Conflict Studies, DePaul University, teaches in the areas of Liberation Theology, Socially Engaged Buddhism and their contributions to ethics of peace and justice. Strain also teaches in the Peace, Justice and Conflict Studies program. His recent book, The Prophet and the Bodhisattva: Daniel Berrigan, Thich Nhat Hanh and the Ethics of Peace and Justice (2014), received the outstanding 2016 book of the year award chosen by the Society for Buddhist Christian Studies.  In 2017, Strain co-authored (with Elizabeth Collier) Global Migration: What is Happening, Why, and a Just Response. Strain is an avid swimmer and enjoys mountain hiking.
